Spring Concert

Yesterday, our Stage Hall was set for an evening of music, as we held our long-awaited Spring Festival. Our students performed their hearts out, from saxophone melodies, Michael Jackson's 'Smooth Criminal' as a drum arrangement, to an original song written and performed by one of our year 9 students. Thank you to everyone who has joined us on such an amazing night, and even bigger thank you goes to our students who made this evening truly unforgettable.

St Ignatius College Celebrates 125 years

St Ignatius College has provided a Catholic education in the Jesuit tradition for boys aged 11-18 years since 1894 and for girls in our Sixth Form since 2014.  Originally founded in 1894 and based in Stamford Hill, the College was set up to serve young men in North East London. We have been based on our Enfield site since 1968. To mark our 125th year, we have celebrated with a formal dinner held at the College in September attended by 200 alumni and special guests.  We followed this with a whole school Mass held at Westminster Cathedral on 24th January 2020, led by Bishop John Sherrington.  We are delighted to be able share this milestone with our staff, students, families and friends of the College.  Please click here to see the gallery of photographs from our recent Mass at Westminster Cathedral to celebrate our 125 anniversary. Swimming Pool Re-Opens

Staff and students at St Ignatius College are celebrating the opening of its newly refurbished swimming pool this week. After previously having had huge problems with the pipework which dates back to the 1960s the 25m indoor swimming pool has under gone an extensive refurbishment over the past few months and now offers students a modern and sleek swimming environment to perfect their skills in the water. Coupled with brand new changing rooms with all mod cons, this is a wonderful addition to the school and wider community. Mary O’Keeffe, Headteacher, said, “Our students have access to some superb facilities now including this beautiful, heated indoor swimming pool. Swimming is such an important skill for our young people to learn not only for their own enjoyment and physical health but also to keep themselves and others safe in and around the water. I am proud that our students will have swimming back on their regular time table and that we are now able to welcome a number of swimming groups from the wider community. I am so grateful to the Diocese and our Trustees who funded these major works. This time last year we were at a loss as to how to manage the situation.” The swimming pool has been refurbished by Hydrospec Swimming Pool Engineers who handed over the site earlier this week. Students achieve fantastic GCSE Results in 2019

CONGRATULATIONS to students and staff at St Ignatius College on achieving superb GCSE results again this summer.  We are delighted that all the hard work has paid off and are very proud of our students’ achievements: We are incredibly pleased with our current headline: 72% grade 4 and above in both English and Maths 56% grade 5 and above in both English and Maths English 83% achieved grade 4- 9 66% achieved grade 5- 9 Maths 74% achieved grade 4- 9 63% achieved grade 5- 9 We are especially pleased with the number of higher grades across a range of subjects with 23% of our grades overall  at 7-9.   Students achieved grades 7-9 as follows: Maths, 29% of students achieved grades 7 – 9 English, 23% of students achieved grades 7 – 9 Physics (64%), Chemistry (61%), Biology (51%), French (27%).   The following students achieved grade 9 in maths: Darwin Clark, Mihir Hurwanth, Sanjay Karunakaran, Denzel Kesse, Leon Srikantha The following students achieved grade 9 in English: Andrei Antenor, Piotr Chilinski, Kene Chukwuma, Jaden Diaz-Ndisang, Ethan Fellows The following students achieved grade 9 in English Literature: Abin Anil, Ashley  Dougan,  Kesse Denzel Kesse, Ayman Khalil, Daniel Shaw A huge congratulations to students with exceptional performances as follows: Students achieving grades 7 – 9 in all their subjects: Antenor Andrei; Jaden Diaz-Ndisang; Ashley Dougan; Ethan Fellows; Max Getling; Sanjay Karunakaran; Sean O’Brien; Daniel Shaw; Gabriel Sigua; Leon Srikantha We are very proud of each individual child and their own personal achievements. Today we celebrate the hard work and commitment of students and staff. This success is testament to the high quality teaching, support and pastoral care that students receive and to our partnership with parents.  The Headteacher Mary O’Keeffe, said “I am delighted that so many individual pupils have achieved outstanding personal performance.  I congratulate them and I thank all the staff who have worked tirelessly to make this possible.  We thank our parents for their continued support of their sons.  It is only by working in partnership that we achieve such success.”

GCSE Success at St Ignatius College

CONGRATULATIONS to students at St Ignatius College on achieving superb GCSE results this summer when nearly all qualifications were reformed and reported on the new scale 1-9. We are delighted with students’ achievements: 73% achieved grade 4 and above in both English and Maths 50% achieved grade 5 and above in both English and Maths English 81% achieved grade 4- 9 68% achieved grade 5- 9 Maths 77% achieved grade 4- 9 54% achieved grade 5- 9 We are especially pleased with the number of higher grades across a range of subjects. Students achieved grades 7-9 as follows: Physics (57%), Biology (37%), Chemistry (37%), Music (30%), PE (27%), Maths (24%). We are very proud of each individual child and their own personal achievements. Today was a day to celebrate the hard work and commitment of students and staff. There were some superb individual performances with one student achieving 6 grade 9, and other students achieving all grade 7 - 9. We are exceptionally proud of the support and pastoral care that students receive and of our partnership with parents. The Headteacher Mary O’Keeffe, said “I am delighted that so many individual pupils have achieved outstanding personal performance. I congratulate them and I thank all the staff who have worked tirelessly to make this possible. Above all, I thank our parents for their continued support of their sons, our pupils. We are incredibly proud of Kevin for representing St Ignatius at the Jack Petchey Speak Out Grand Final this week. Winning the regional competition is fantastic but to make it all the way to the Grand Final really is an outstanding achievement! Well done!

China Trip: Day 5 🇨🇳 Post 3/3 After Dinner, the groups participated in a Sino-British Friendship Social Evening. Year 9s were grouped together with their Language partners and completed their activities in Chinese. It was an enjoyable evening!

China Trip: Day 5 🇨🇳 Post 2/3 After Lunch, we visited a local secondary school where students performed a dubbing competition for us. Our boys had conversations with peers to better understand Chinese schooling, developing their speaking skills.

China Trip: Day 4 🇨🇳 Post 4/4 Following lunch, students all participated in making a decorative lions head. Students were given instructions in Chinese and were asked to decorate it as described. Fun fact, a large lion head takes 3 months to make

China Trip: Day 4 🇨🇳 Post 3/4 In the afternoon, we tried a range of traditional dishes for lunch. Students were shown how to prepare the utensils for a meal by Ms Li before digging in! Loads of dishes were new to students, further enriching them!

China Trip: Day 4 🇨🇳 Post 1/4 We started off early, as we went for an excursion to Foshan. In the morning, we visited Zumiao Temple and Museum. Here we learnt more about the Chinese culture and beliefs.     Video

China Trip: Day 3 🇨🇳 Post 4/4 After dinner, we headed to a shopping mall! Students were given tasks by their teachers to complete, which included having conversations with store staff regarding products. Once done, they got a few items.🛍️

China Trip: Day 3 🇨🇳 Post 3/4 The afternoon session only got better! Year 9s learnt how to make traditional Chinese food. Mrs Chen taught the history of the dish and how to make JIU CAU HE ZI. They not only made the dish but also ate it too!      Video   Video

China Trip: Day 3 🇨🇳 Post 2/4 Following lunch, our students participated in a paper cutting workshop. Students learnt about the history of paper cutting and were shown how to make a beautiful peach design, before doing their own!
