Open Evening 024

On Tuesday, St Ignatius College proudly opened its doors to welcome prospective students and their families for our annual Open Evening. The event was a wonderful opportunity for visitors to explore our school community and discover the wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities available to students. Throughout the evening, our staff provided engaging, interactive experiences across multiple departments. From live science experiments to creative arts showcases, each session was designed to give students a hands-on insight into life at St Ignatius College. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all who attended and contributed to making the event such a success. The enthusiasm of both students and families was truly inspiring, and we look forward to welcoming many of you as future members of our school community.

Great Missenden Trip

Our Geography Department is staying very busy this month while completing their field trips. On Thursday 6 June, the Year 12 A Level Geography class visited the village of Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire. The trip aimed to help students gather primary data and explore the ‘distant place’ they are studying in their Changing Places unit. Additionally, it provided practice with data collection techniques before their upcoming field trip to the Lake District, and it could also inspire ideas for their NEA investigations.

Geography Field trip to Stratford

Year 10 Geography students visited East London to investigate how the regeneration of the Olympic Park area has affected different parts of Stratford. The students did a lot of walking (11 km in fact) and visited New Town, East Village, The Olympic Park, and Hackney Wick.  They practiced a range of fieldwork techniques in order to collect data for their Human Geography investigation. These included Environmental Quality Surveys, Bi-polar analysis, and field sketching. Whilst doing questionnaire surveys in East Village (what was the Athletes Village during the Olympic Games) Mr Smith was approached by a member of the public and congratulated on how polite and well-behaved our students were. Well done boys!
