College Celebrates Excellent GCSE Results 2020

Congratulations to our Year 11 students and their teachers on achieving excellent results again this summer. We are very proud of the achievements of each and every one of our students. In the face of all the uncertainty, the hard work and determination of our students has reaped dividends and culminated in success. Despite the disruption this year, we are delighted with our students’ performance. 125 Anniversary Mass at Westminster

On Friday 24th January 2020 the whole school community along with special guests, travelled to Westminster Cathedral to celebrate Mass marking our 125th anniversary.  The team at the College executed the logistics perfectly with the boys carefully following instructions and helping to make this a truly wonderful day. The boys were a real credit to the school.  Mass was performed by Bishop John Sherrington and concelebrated by a large number of fellow Jesuit preists.  Readers, servers, choir and congregation all conducted themselves very well - the epitome of a Jesuit pupil profile! 'Speak Out Challenge' Victory for St Ignatius

We were honoured to host the Jack Petchy ‘Speak Out Challenge’ regional finals here on Monday. The evening showcased the talents of 15 young speakers from schools all over Enfield whose journeys had started when they participated in workshops delivered by The Speakers Trust in their own schools. It was no small feat delivering their speeches to a panel of 7 discerning judges as well as a large audience and we applaud of all of the participants for presenting themselves so well. We are very proud of our Year 10 students who took part; Adam Ravatt winning the competition and Demir Seyranoglu coming third. Adam’s performance will now go through to the semi final selection day where the judges decide who goes through to the grand final in July where they perform to an audience of over 1000 people!

St Ignatius College Celebrates 125 years

St Ignatius College has provided a Catholic education in the Jesuit tradition for boys aged 11-18 years since 1894 and for girls in our Sixth Form since 2014.  Originally founded in 1894 and based in Stamford Hill, the College was set up to serve young men in North East London. We have been based on our Enfield site since 1968. To mark our 125th year, we have celebrated with a formal dinner held at the College in September attended by 200 alumni and special guests.  We followed this with a whole school Mass held at Westminster Cathedral on 24th January 2020, led by Bishop John Sherrington.  We are delighted to be able share this milestone with our staff, students, families and friends of the College.  Please click here to see the gallery of photographs from our recent Mass at Westminster Cathedral to celebrate our 125 anniversary. Swimming Pool Re-Opens

Staff and students at St Ignatius College are celebrating the opening of its newly refurbished swimming pool this week. After previously having had huge problems with the pipework which dates back to the 1960s the 25m indoor swimming pool has under gone an extensive refurbishment over the past few months and now offers students a modern and sleek swimming environment to perfect their skills in the water. Coupled with brand new changing rooms with all mod cons, this is a wonderful addition to the school and wider community. Mary O’Keeffe, Headteacher, said, “Our students have access to some superb facilities now including this beautiful, heated indoor swimming pool. Swimming is such an important skill for our young people to learn not only for their own enjoyment and physical health but also to keep themselves and others safe in and around the water. I am proud that our students will have swimming back on their regular time table and that we are now able to welcome a number of swimming groups from the wider community. I am so grateful to the Diocese and our Trustees who funded these major works. This time last year we were at a loss as to how to manage the situation.” The swimming pool has been refurbished by Hydrospec Swimming Pool Engineers who handed over the site earlier this week.
