Advent Charities 2020

As the season of Advent approaches, we wanted to highlight the charities that the College will be supporting over this period. The College has a long tradition of raising awareness of social justice issues and supporting charities that help the most vulnerable in our society and the world. We strive to put the gospel values, ‘Faith, Hope and Love’, into action. Our chosen charities this Advent are: Love Christmas – Sharing a million Christmas Boxes of hope and love this season. St Ignatius College has been invited, along with St Anne’s High School, to get involved in the “Love Christmas” initiative to help spread the power of love and hope to those struggling with Covid and other social challenges this Christmas.  We plan to make up Christmas Boxes filled with gifts and seasonal treats and then mobilise volunteers to deliver the boxes to the most vulnerable and isolated in our communities.   The Catholic Children’s Society Crisis Appeal The second charity we are supporting during Advent is the Catholic Children’s Society, which supports disadvantaged children and families across London, Hertfordshire and the South East.  They work with individuals of all faiths and none; their sole aim is to help those in greatest need. The charity operates a Crisis Fund which provides immediate financial support for families facing a crisis in their lives.  Parish Priests and Headteachers can apply to this fund on behalf of a family and we will respond within 24 hours.  This support can make a huge difference to families in desperate situations when they have nowhere else to turn. We have sent a letter home to all parents with details of how families can help with both charities and we will post further information over the coming days so please keep an eye out.
