2022 GCSE Results

Once again we are celebrating superb GCSE results today, despite the challenges of the last 2 years.  HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to our year 11 students who have achieved so well.    There have been some exceptional individual and subject performances.    82% grade 4 and above in both English and Maths   71% grade 5 and above in both English and Maths   English    89% achieved grade 4- 9    76% achieved grade 5- 9    Maths   85% achieved grade 4- 9   76% achieved grade 5- 9   Top Grades 7-9    67% achieved grades 7-9 in Chemistry   64% achieved grades 7-9 in Computer Science   60% achieved grades 7-9 in Physics   94% achieved grades 4-9 in French   89% achieved grades 4-9 in Spanish   87% achieved grades 4-9 in RE   Grade 9   In total , our students achieved 91 grade 9s.   21 students achieved grades 7-9 in all of their subjects.   17 students achieved a grade 9 in RE;    14 students achieved a grade 9 in Maths    14 students achieved a grade 9 in English.     Students have shown enormous resilience over the last few years and we are so proud of each individual’s personal achievements.  We are so fortunate to have staff who go above and beyond to support our students in every way and today we celebrate the hard work and commitment of staff and students.   This success is testament to the high quality teaching and care that students receive and to our partnership with parents.  The Headteacher Mary O’Keeffe, said “I am delighted that so many individual pupils have achieved outstanding personal performance.  We are so proud of them  - they are truly amazing. I thank all the staff who have worked tirelessly to make this possible and our parents and families for their continued support of their sons. We are looking forward to them flourishing in our Sixth Form”

College Celebrates Excellent A-Level Results 2022

College Celebrates Excellent A level Results 2022  Huge congratulations to our year 13 students on achieving excellent results again this summer, the first year of public examinations since 2019.   We are delighted that over 75% of our students achieved their first choice university place in what has been a highly competitive year.   Students have shown enormous resilience in the face of the significant challenges that the pandemic has posed and have made superb progress.  This is testament to their hard work, the high quality of teaching and support from our staff, and the support of parents and carers.      There were some exceptional results in specific subject areas especially at the A*/B boundary as follows:   A*/B grades  Biology 78%  Chemistry 82%  Computer Science 60%  Further Maths 100%  History 76%  Maths 60%  Philosophy and Ethics 63%  Physics 77%  We wish our Year 13 students every happiness and fulfilment as they embark on the next stage of their life journey.  They will remain part of our community and will be in our thoughts and prayers as they go into to world to make their mark.   “We are incredibly proud of the academic achievements and the wonderful results of our year 13 students but, as importantly, if not more so, we are proud of who they are.   They have developed in to fine young adults who will continue to make a positive contribution to society.   It is wonderful that our students have the academic qualifications that they need to access the universities and courses of their choice.  I am incredibly grateful to our dedicated staff who go above and beyond day in, day out to support our students.   This is a very happy day for St Ignatius College.   Mary O’Keeffe Headteacher

Ignatius 400

On Saturday 12th March the College was represented by our wonderful students and staff at the Ignatian Anniversary Celebration Mass at St Ignatius Catholic Church, Stamford Hill.      A Brass Quintet featuring Leo, Jonathan, Martin, Jerald and Ralphy accompanied the Mass with beautiful music.     Bishop Nicholas Hudson was assisted by our excellent Altar Service team of Jakub, Rolan, Albin, Iggy, William, Malvin and Kwadwo.      The Mass was a celebration 400 years to the day since the canonization of our patron saint, St Ignatius of Loyola, alongside his fellow Jesuit St Francis Xavier.     Our College representatives photographed beneath the statues of St Ignatius and St Francis Xavier at St Ignatius Catholic Church, Stamford Hill.

St Ignatius College Chess competition

The much anticipated St -Ignatius College Chess competition started last month with 16 boys, aged between 11 and 17. Following a gruelling knockout round with some hotly contested fixtures, the four semi finalists emerged. Jayden (6.5), Lorcan 11S, Bosco and Rayn advanced to the last four in the Great Hall. In an atmosphere fraught with tension, Lorcan prevailed against the precocious Rayn in an eventful game. In the other match, Jayden was forced to be patient due to the dogged defence of Bosco, but was ultimately victorious.  Whilst Bosco dismantled Rayn's staunch rearguard, all eyes were on the grand finale.  Jayden and Lorcan exchanged blows and fought till the end, but ultimately, Jayden's relentlessness was rewarded, despite his difficulties with the chess clock!  Massive Congratulations to Jayden and a special mention to Rayn, eliminated boys up to 4 years his senior in the earlier rounds. High Achievers Evening

This year, it was a privilege to host the Enfield High Achievers Evening at St Ignatius College. It was a wonderful event to celebrate the successes of those who were nominated for an award. The evening was hosted by our College Captain Dara and Vice Captain Ranjeet. The Mayor of Enfield, Cllr Sabri Ozaydin was delighted to attend the evening where he congratulated the nominees and their families before handing out High Achievers' certificates. Also in attendance was the Director of Education Enfield: Peter Nathan, Head of School and Early Years Improvement Service: Lucy Nutt, Cabinet member for children and young people and protection: Cllr Uddin as well as our Chair of Governors: John Donnelly. A huge congratulations to our boys on their exceptional GCSE results last year. Francis, Jude, David, Richmond, Christopher, Franklin Tobenna, and Anthony! We are very proud of each and every one of you.

What next? Day 2 of Careers Week gave students an opportunity to consider their future pathways. We looked at routes in to different careers and the next steps to consider after GCSEs. Students also discussed how to gain workplace experience.

We were honoured to be visited by the Provincial Superior of the Jesuits in Britain, Fr Peter Gallagher SJ and the Provincial Delegate for Education, Andrew Johnson. They toured the school, met with staff and students and Fr Gallagher conducted an inspiring Mass.

Pinsent Masons and AXA delivered a fabulous presentation during today’s Ambition Programme, focused on careers in the financial and legal sectors, with particular emphasis on apprenticeships and summer work experience. Thank you so much for coming in.

Year 10 students had fantastic day at Oxford University exploring mathematical biology, and theology and law. Our students made us proud once again—asking excellent questions, engaging confidently in discussion, and looking ahead to a bright future

Our Year 8 Mandarin class went to Chinatown to explore, try authentic Chinese food and drink and apply the knowledge that they have learned in lessons in real life - recognizing the characters on the street signs and reading the menu in Chinese characters!

The Year 8 Basketball team put in a brilliant, hard‑fought performance against Kingsmead yesterday, in the end losing narrowly 37–41. Great effort from all the players!

Year 12 students enjoyed an inspirational trip to Cambridge University yesterday, focusing on study skills and super‑curricular activities. It was a fantastic day that encouraged students to think big about their futures.
